After seeing the effectiveness of parthenolide on TRP receptor desensitization in our initial experiments, we decided to go further by formulating a concentrated parthenolide solution. Our goal was to specifically target migraine attacks, a severe and disabling form of headache, to reduce their frequency and intensity.
Parthenolide put to the test: Tests on migraine models
We used various migraine models to precisely measure the impact of parthenolide on brain activity and on nociceptive neurons, the latter being specifically dedicated to the transmission of pain signals. We monitored changes in neuronal activity patterns, with a particular focus on brain areas involved in pain perception and modulation.
From theory to practice: A dedicated thesis
These investigations formed the core of a doctoral thesis in neuroscience, allowing a young researcher to delve deeply into the study of parthenolide and its therapeutic potential. Through this rigorous and structured approach, we were able to confirm in a scientific and detailed manner the promising effects of this molecule.
Encouraging results: Parthenolide reduces activity of pain neurons
The results obtained were very encouraging. Parthenolide demonstrated its ability to significantly reduce the activity of nociceptive neurons, thus translating into a reduction in the nerve impulse responsible for the painful sensation. In the context of migraines, this materialized into a notable attenuation of the intensity of the attacks, thus opening the way to a new therapeutic strategy that could be revolutionary for the millions of people affected by this condition.
Next steps: Towards clinical application
With these promising results, we are now planning to continue our research to evaluate the safety and efficacy of parthenolide in humans, with a view to future clinical application. Our ultimate goal is to be able to offer a natural and effective alternative to people suffering from migraines, allowing them to regain control of their daily lives.
