Fibromyalgia , a disease that affects a growing number of people and remains a medical challenge, is at the heart of Naturveda's research efforts. In partnership with the Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital, we have launched another innovative project, this time focused on the study of plant active ingredients and their role in the modulation of pain in patients with fibromyalgia.
Objectives and Hypotheses
This project, parallel to our research on natural active ingredients such as vitamins and minerals, focuses on plant components, in particular those containing 5HTP (precursor of serotonin) .
Our hypothesis is that these plants could offer a complementary or alternative therapeutic route to relieve the symptoms associated with fibromyalgia.
The Importance of Serotonin and 5HTP
Serotonin , often called the happiness hormone , plays a crucial role in regulating mood, sleep, and pain . Abnormal serotonin levels are often associated with fibromyalgia symptoms, such as depression and sleep problems. 5HTP , as a precursor to serotonin, has the potential to regulate these levels and, therefore, modulate pain and other symptoms. This makes it a particularly interesting research target for our study.
Preliminary Results and Implications
Although the project is still ongoing, initial results are encouraging. Herbs containing 5HTP show significant potential in regulating fibromyalgia symptoms . As with our previous project, these discoveries could lead to the formulation of a new herbal treatment, offering a natural alternative to the synthetic drugs currently available.
Partnership and Collaboration
Our collaboration with the Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital continues to play an essential role in the scientific validation of our research. This partnership ensures that our discoveries are not only innovative but also practically applicable in a medical setting.
Conclusion
Naturveda's efforts to explore the potential of plant actives in the treatment of fibromyalgia represent a promising step forward in our quest to better understand and treat this disease. With special attention to the role of 5HTP and serotonin, we hope to make a significant contribution to the lives of fibromyalgia patients.
